Aeryn is truly a gift from God. I met her birth mother just 5 weeks prior to the delivery in the ER when she told another nurse that she didn't want to keep this baby. I went in and talked with her and she said that she would like for me to have this baby. Nothing definate was planned, but she kept in touch with me throughout the time between. On Friday, March 24 I was coming back to Miami on the cruise - we were about 500 miles from land - when I went and checked my cell phone just to see if I had a signal. I had about 5 messages from Bryan saying call back 911. Well, I did have a signal and called him. Aeryn's birth mother was having an emergency c-section and the lawyer wanted us to come to the hospital. It was a little impossible for me to go, but I was able to talk with the lawyer and set up a time when I got back to come to the hospital.
We landed in Tulsa at about 8:15 pm on Saturday night and drove to Siloam where I met up with Bryan. We then drove to Johnson, AR and got there about 10:30 pm. We were able to talk with the birth mother and see Aeryn for the first time. The nurses said that we could spend the night with Aeryn there at the hopsital, but since I had been traveling since 5 am, we decided to go home and come back in the morning. Sunday morning (my birthday, March 26) Mom & Dad, Bryan & I drove to the hospital and met with the lawyer to go over paperwork and see Aeryn. After signing papers and getting the adoption process started we were able to see Aeryn. The nurses told us that she was ready to go home and we could take her. WOW! That was really unexpected. We had to do a little shopping before we could leave the hospital with Aeryn. We had to go buy a car seat (mom & dad were shocked that we actually couldn't leave the hospital without one), diapers, bottles, etc. Then we were able to take our little bundle of joy home! What a whirlwind, and so completely unexpected. But all in all a huge blessing and miracle.
